Russia has recalled its ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrey Kelin, concluding his seven-year tenure as diplomatic ties between Moscow and London experience increasing strain due to the UK’s support for Ukraine. Kelin’s diplomatic mission officially ended on July 21, according to the Russian embassy. As of now, no successor has been named, which leaves Vasily A. Tsyganov, the embassy’s chargé d’affaires, as the highest-ranking Russian diplomat currently stationed in the UK.

The Kremlin recently issued a warning to the UK about potential “consequences” following reports that British-manufactured attack drones were being supplied to Ukraine for operations targeting Russia.
