Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed concerns from European NATO members about potential conflicts, stating that Russia is not preparing for any hostilities against Europe. Putin emphasized that there is no reason to escalate tensions with European countries and criticized suggestions that Moscow was gearing up for conflict.
Addressing the ongoing situation with Ukraine, Putin mentioned that Russia is contemplating whether to resume peace talks following Ukrainian attacks on Russian soil. He indicated that Moscow would carefully evaluate its next steps before making a decision on returning to negotiations.
Despite these diplomatic considerations, Russian airstrikes continue to impact Ukraine, causing casualties and damaging infrastructure. A recent attack in Kyiv resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a 14-year-old boy, and left dozens injured.
The conflict has also affected Ukraine’s industrial sector, with ArcelorMittal announcing the shutdown of operations at the country’s largest steel plant. Repeated Russian strikes have damaged the facility and resulted in worker fatalities, exacerbating the economic challenges facing Ukraine amidst the ongoing war.
