Meta has introduced a new line of AI-powered smart glasses aimed at addressing privacy concerns associated with wearable technology. The latest offering, set to be available from October 13 at a starting price of $349, omits cameras altogether, thus eliminating the potential for unauthorized photo or video capture.
This decision comes amid increasing scrutiny over privacy issues linked to wearable tech. Meta emphasizes that privacy remains a priority, retaining features like a visible recording indicator on its camera-equipped models. In addition to the camera-free version, Meta has also launched new smart glasses with display capabilities, priced from $799, and plans to roll these out to more international markets.
Beyond this, Meta has unveiled lighter mixed-reality glasses that integrate an external battery and memory pack. These are anticipated to hit the market in spring 2027, with an expected starting price of $1,299.
In a broader push into consumer AI technology, Meta introduced Muse, an AI-powered personal assistant. Muse is designed to handle tasks such as booking appointments, making calls, and connecting with various services, positioning it as a central component of Meta’s AI strategy alongside the new smart glasses.
