In a significant move to enhance travel connections, Eurostar is set to inaugurate its first direct train service between London and Antwerp on December 14. This new service is designed to streamline the journey between these two cities, offering a faster and more convenient travel option. The route will feature four direct services daily, departing from London St. Pancras and heading straight to Antwerp, thus eliminating the current necessity of changing trains in Brussels.
The direct train journey will have a duration of approximately 2 hours and 41 minutes, which marks a reduction in travel time compared to the existing route. Presently, travelers must transfer at Brussels-Midi, which adds time and complexity to the trip. This new service will thus provide a more efficient alternative for those commuting between London and Antwerp.
However, passengers should be aware that initially, the service will not include direct return trips from Antwerp to London. This is due to the absence of necessary UK border and customs facilities at Antwerp Central Station. Consequently, travelers heading back to London will still be required to change trains in Brussels, maintaining the current process for return journeys.
The introduction of this direct service is expected to significantly improve connectivity between the UK and Belgium.
