This gathering, following the previous session in Brussels six months prior, concentrated on the theme of “Shared Prosperity and Stability of the EU and the Western Balkans.” Key areas of focus included EU enlargement, economic integration, and enhancing security cooperation amid the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions.
The EU leaders reiterated their unwavering support for the Western Balkans’ EU membership goals and evaluated the advancements made in integrating the region into the EU’s economic framework. A pivotal element of the discussions was the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, introduced in 2023, which offers up to €6 billion in funding. This initiative is designed to assist in implementing reforms, driving investments, and fostering closer participation in the EU single market.
